Infineon Technologies AG chief operations officer Rutger Wijburg said Malaysia was an important hub for Infineon due to economies of scale already present in its front-end wafer fab manufacturing in Kulim and back-end chip manufacturing in Melaka.

PETALING JAYA: Semiconductor solutions provider Infineon will invest more than RM8bil to build a wafer fab module in Kulim, Kedah, adding a significant manufacturing capacity in power semiconductors.

The construction is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2024.
